Istanbul Perspectives Series: “Istanbul, Wide Angle”

As of October 2018, Istanbul Policy Center will begin hosting a series of talks, “Istanbul Perspectives”, to bring together artists that have played a large role in shaping culture and arts activities in Istanbul.

Events in the series will take place on the last Thursday of each month during the 2018-2019 season. The aim of the series is to create a discussion platform that will enable us to understand how the cultural fabric of Istanbul has been shaped and transformed since the 1980s. The transformation of the cultural texture of the city will be discussed from different perspectives, including architecture, visual arts, art market, festival culture, and performing arts. In this framework, participants with different identities from different generations will discuss their experiences during different periods of the city’s culture and art scene. Participants will evaluate how the city’s physical and cultural texture has changed and how their field of expertise is articulated by the transformation of the city.

We kindly invite you to our meeting, “Istanbul, Wide Angle,” hosted by Murat Germen. The event will take place Thursday, October 25 at 5:00 pm.
