Istanbul Perspectives: “Istanbul, Close up: Last Ten Years of Architecture and the City”

As of October 2018, Istanbul Policy Center has started hosting a series of talks, “Istanbul Perspectives”, to bring together artists that have played a large role in shaping culture and arts activities in Istanbul.

Events in the series will take place on the last Thursday of each month during the 2018-2019 season. The aim of the series is to create a discussion platform that will enable us to understand how the cultural fabric of Istanbul has been shaped and transformed since the 1980s. The transformation of the cultural texture of the city will be discussed from different perspectives, including architecture, visual arts, art market, festival culture, and performing arts. In this framework, participants with different identities from different generations will discuss their experiences during different periods of the city’s culture and art scene. Participants will evaluate how the city’s physical and cultural texture has changed and how their field of expertise is articulated by the transformation of the city.

We kindly invite you to our second meeting, “Istanbul, Close up: Last Ten Years of Architecture and the City” with Uğur Tanyeli’s talk, moderated by Asuman Suner. The event will take place on November 29 at 5:00 pm.
