
Çetin Çelik is a researcher working in the field of sociology of migration and education. He received his PhD at the University of Bremen in 2012, with a thesis exploring the links between identity formation and educational achievement of the second-generation migrant youth and broader social policies and institutional regulations in the context of Bremen, Germany. Çelik’s current works at Koç University, Istanbul, deal with different forms of educational inequalities within the context of migration. He is a recipient of the Marie Curie Career Integration Grant, Koç University Seed Grant, as well as a two-year TUBITAK-BIDEB Grant. He is also part of the Social Policy Centre group at Koç University (SPM-KU), which runs an FP7th project on youth unemployment. From findings of his research, Çelik has published and reviewed articles in journals such as Ethnic and Racial Studies, Patterns of Prejudice, and British Journal of Sociology of Education.
Çelik received his MA from at Middle East Technical University and his BA from Ege University in sociology. Çelik has been teaching courses on sociology of migration, education, and research methods at the University of Bremen and at Koç University.

The Welcoming of the 2015/16 Mercator-IPC Fellows was held on October 5, 2015 at Feriye Restaurant. The event began with welcoming remarks by Fuat Keyman, followed by remarks from Rüdiger Frohn. The welcoming remarks were followed by a movie screening that introduced the 2015/16 Mercator-IPC Fellows Christiane Fröhlich, Defne Kadıoğlu Polat, Çetin Çelik, Peter Mock, Hande Paker and İlke Toygür.
