The Initiative hosted the sixth meeting of the "Plastocene Talks" seminar series, "Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion (Belgesel Gösterimi ve Panel)." During the meeting, which was convened by 2025/26 Mercator-IPC Fellow Sedat Gündoğdu, the documentary "The Plastic Detox" was screened. The event was held on June 22 at IPC Karaköy with the participation of Prof. Dr. Hasan Bayram and moderated by Sedat Gündoğdu.

The panel discussion initiated by 2025/26 Mercator-IPC Fellow Burcu Karakaş titled "The Rise of the Far Right and Anti-Immigrant Sentiment in Europe (Avrupa'da Yükselen Aşırı Sağ ve Göçmen Karşıtlığı)" took place on May 11 at IPC Karaköy.

2025/26 Mercator-IPC Fellow Sedat Gündoğdu convened a roundtable meeting on June 8 in Berlin with civil society organizations working on plastic pollution in Germany. The meeting was organized in collaboration with Exit Plastik and the Berlin Office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation. The meeting brought together representatives from 15 different NGOs. 

Participants discussed the plastic waste trade between Türkiye and Germany, its environmental impacts, and opportunities for bilateral cooperation in tackling plastic pollution.

The roundtable provided an important platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences while raising awareness about the environmental consequences of global plastic waste trade.
