Autonomy and Contestation: Turkey, Russia, and the West

The Russia and Eurasia Program at The Fletcher School convened a panel discussion on Turkey's relations with the West and Russia on January 23, 2024 at the Fletcher School, the USA. The panelists included Fuat Keyman, Atila Eralp, and Senem Aydın-Düzgit from Istanbul Policy Center. The conversation was moderated by visiting research fellow Özgür Özkan from Fletcher Russia and Eurasia Program.

Turkey and the West: Autonomy and Contestation in a Changing Global Order

Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University convened a panel discussion on "Turkey and the West: Autonomy and Contestation in a Changing Global Order" with the participation of Senem Aydın-Düzgit, Atila Eralp, Fuat Keyman and Andrew O’Donohue as panelists and Lenore Martin as the chair. The panel discussion took place on January 22, 2024 at Center for European Studies, Harvard University, the USA.

Post-Election Turkey in a Changing Global World

The World Bank and IMF Turkish Staff Association (WITSA) convened a panel discussion on “Post-Election Turkey in a Changing Global World” with the participation of Atila Eralp and Fuat Keyman as speakers and Serdar Yılmaz from the WITSA (Governance Global Practice Manager) as the moderator. The event took place on January 18, 2024 in the USA.

Minerva Talks: Istanbul in History - Marginality and Space in Istanbul in the Early 19th Century

IPC and Tarih Vakfı continue to organize the monthly "Minerva Talks: Istanbul in History'' series. The discussion titled ''Marginality and Space in İstanbul in the Early 19th Century'' moderated by Ayşe Köse Badur and Ayşe Özil, was delivered by Işıl Çokuğraş on December 28 at IPC.

The Welcoming of the 2023/24 Mercator-IPC Fellows

The Welcoming of the 2023/24 Mercator-IPC Fellows was held on October 12 at The Seed, Sakıp Sabancı Museum with the Keynote Speech “Looking Ahead: Turkey, Europe and the War in Ukraine” by Prof. Timothy Garton Ash. The speech was followed by welcoming remarks of IPC Director Fuat Keyman, Stiftung Mercator Executive Director Markus Piduhn and Vice President of Sabancı University Cem Güneri. The event concluded with a movie screening that introduced the 2023/24 Mercator-IPC Fellows Hande Güzel, Demet Lüküslü, László Szerencsés, Sinem Ayhan and Başar Baysal.

Imagining Borders, Race and Labor in Times of Crises: The Case of Europe

Istanbul Policy Center-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative organized an event titled “Imagining Borders, Race and Labor in Times of Crises: The Case of Europe ” with the initiative of 2021/22 Mercator-IPC Fellow Sibel Karadağ and the participation of Itamar Mann, Martina Tazzioli, and Nando Sigona at IPC on September 29.

Green Spaces of Istanbul: Cities and Natural Plants

Istanbul Policy Center-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative organized the event titled "Green Spaces of Istanbul: Cities and Natural Plants," with the participation of Cihan Erdönmez, Akgün İlhan, İbrahim Dedeoğlu, and Matthew Gandy at IPC on September 18-19. The event also featured a documentary titled "Natura Urbana'' by Matthew Gandy.

IPC organized a conference titled ''Reading Istanbul in Literature: Transcending Space: Istanbul, Contemplation, and Women Roaming the Streets in Fatma Aliye's Novels'' which was delivered by Başak Deniz Özdoğan and moderated by Seval Şahin at IPC on September 18.
