
Funda Tekin is the director of the Institut für Europäische Politik, Berlin (IEP). Prior to this she had been vice-director of the Centre for Turkey and European Union Studies (CETEUS), senior researcher at the Centre International de Formation Européenne, and senior research adviser to IEP. Tekin holds a PhD in political science from the University of Cologne. Her research focuses on differentiated integration, EU-Turkey relations, rule of law, European values, the future of Europe, EU enlargement, and the area of freedom, security, and justice. She is a board member of the Trans European Policy Studies Association (TEPSA) and Europäische Bewegung Deutschland, a member of the academic council of the Arbeitsstelle Europäische Jugendpolitik am Deutschen Jugendinstitut, and a member of the editorial committee of the academic quarterly Integration as well as co-editor of the Nomos-Book Series Turkey and European Union Studies. In January 2023, she was appointed member of the Franco-German working group of experts on EU institutional reforms, and she co-chairs the standing group on EU-Turkey Relations, “Turkey Bridge.”
