Mustafa Kutlay is a senior scholar at Istanbul Policy Center and associate professor (senior lecturer) at City University of London, Department of International Politics. He is also a senior research fellow at Conflict Analysis Research Center at the University of Kent. In Spring 2013, he was a Marshall Memorial fellow at The German Marshall Fund of the US. He teaches courses on comparative politics, institutions, democracy, and development in the Global South, and political risk analysis. He works on international/comparative political economy, institutions and politics of development, emerging powers and globalisation, and political economy and foreign policy of Turkey.
His articles appeared in international peer-reviewed journals such as International Affairs, Third World Quarterly, Government and Opposition, The British Journal of Politics and International Relations. In his research areas, he participated in several international projects and wrote reports, policy notes, and opinion pieces for different research and policy institutions. His co-authored article (with Ziya Öniş) received the Government and Opposition ‘Elizabeth Meehan best article prize’ in 2019.
