The European Union’s (EU) implementation of a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will increase the price of some Turkish exports to European countries. The EU CBAM does not apply on the goods that are already covered by a carbon price. If Turkish policymakers were to implement a carbon price aligned with the EU, its fiscal revenue could support the decarbonization of the Turkish economy. This project will quantify the costs and benefits of alternative Turkish carbon price designs in response to the EU CBAM.
