The Russia and Eurasia Program at The Fletcher School convened a panel discussion on Turkey's relations with the West and Russia on January 23, 2024 at the Fletcher School, the USA. The panelists included Fuat Keyman, Atila Eralp, and Senem Aydın-Düzgit from Istanbul Policy Center. The conversation was moderated by visiting research fellow Özgür Özkan from Fletcher Russia and Eurasia Program.

Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies at Harvard University convened a panel discussion on "Turkey and the West: Autonomy and Contestation in a Changing Global Order" with the participation of Senem Aydın-Düzgit, Atila Eralp, Fuat Keyman and Andrew O’Donohue as panelists and Lenore Martin as the chair. The panel discussion took place on January 22, 2024 at Center for European Studies, Harvard University, the USA.

The World Bank and IMF Turkish Staff Association (WITSA) convened a panel discussion on “Post-Election Turkey in a Changing Global World” with the participation of Atila Eralp and Fuat Keyman as speakers and Serdar Yılmaz from the WITSA (Governance Global Practice Manager) as the moderator. The event took place on January 18, 2024 in the USA.

The Istanbul Policy Center–Sabancı University–Stiftung Mercator Initiative hosted Mercator-IPC Visiting Senior Fellow Frank Schimmelfennig in Istanbul. During his visit, Schimmelfennig participated in the panel “Ever Looser Union? Differentiated Integration in Europe” on January 30, 2020 at METU; gave a seminar on the same topic on February 3, 2020 at Sabancı University; and held a breakfast talk on “Differentiated Integration in EU-Turkey Relations: Prospects and Obstacles” on February 4, 2020 at the Galata Istanbul Hotel.

The Initiative organized the meeting “Problems and Prospects for EU-Germany-Turkey Relations under New EU Leadership” on December 3, 2019 at the Galata Hotel by SOFITEL with the participation of Visiting Senior Fellow Wolfgang Wessels as the keynote speaker, Senior Fellow Atila Eralp as the discussant, and Senior Scholar and Research and Academic Affairs Coordinator Senem Aydın-Düzgit as the chair.

The Initiative convened the panel “Turkey and the West in Global Turmoil” moderated by Research and Academic Affairs Coordinator and Senior Scholar Senem Aydın-Düzgit with the participation of Mercator-IPC Senior Fellows Aslı Aydıntaşbaş, Atila Eralp, and Michael Thumann on November 25, 2019 at IPC Karaköy.

As part of Global Turkey in Europe V, IAI, IPC, and Stiftung Mercator convened the roundtable discussion on “Turkey-EU Relations in a Changing Era? Domestic Dynamics and International Constraints” on November 6, 2019 in Brussels, Belgium.

The Welcoming of the 2019/20 Mercator-IPC Fellows was held on October 21, 2019 at Soho Istanbul.  The event began with welcoming remarks by Fuat Keyman, followed by remarks from Michael Schwarz, Senem Aydın-Düzgit, Aslı Aydıntaşbaş, Atila Eralp, and Michael Thumann. The Initiative and the University of Cambridge organized the roundtable discussion “Turkey, Britain and Europe in Global Turmoil: Historical Representations and Contemporary Repercussions” with the participation of Director Fuat Keyman, Senior Scholar and Research and Academic Affairs Coordinator Senem Aydın-Düzgit, and 2018/19 Mercator-IPC Senior Fellow Atila Eralp on April 5, 2019 at the University of Cambridge.

The Initiative and the Brookings Institution organized the roundtable discussion “Turkey and the West” with Director Fuat Keyman, Senior Scholar and Research and Academic Affairs Coordinator Senem Aydın-Düzgit, Mercator-IPC Senior Fellow Atila Eralp, Brookings Institution Doha Center Nonresident Fellow Galip Dalay, and 2015/16 Mercator-IPC Fellow İlke Toygür on January 14, 2019 in Washington, DC.

The final meeting of the Track II diplomacy working group, under the scope of the project “Revitalizing Turkey-EU/Germany Relations,” funded by the IPC-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative, took place on December 14, 2018, in the European Parliament, Brussels. The meeting was held with the participation of Senior Scholar and Research and Academic Affairs Coordinator Senem Aydın-Düzgit, 2017/18 Mercator-IPC Senior Fellow Atila Eralp, and Sabancı University Faculty Member Meltem Müftüler-Baç.

IPC organized the conference “Neoliberalism, State, Global Crisis” in the honor of Galip Yalman at IPC Karaköy on November 23, 2018.

The joint panel discussion “EU-Turkey Relations in a Turbulent World – Cooperation or Conflict?”, convened by the Initiative, Asociacion Nuestra Europa, and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, took place on October 18, 2018 at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.

The roundtable discussion “EU-Turkey Relations in Times of Global and Regional Turmoil,” convened by the Initiative and Elcano Royal Institute, took place on October 18, 2018 at Elcano Royal Institute. IPC and Elcano Royal Institute signed an agreement to foster cooperation between the two institutions

The Welcoming of the 2018/19 Mercator-IPC Fellows was held on October 8, 2018 at Salon IKSV.  The event marked the seventh cycle of the Mercator-IPC Fellowship Program of the IPC-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative.

The event began with welcoming remarks by Director Fuat Keyman, followed by remarks from the Chairman of the Advisory Board at Stiftung Mercator, Rüdiger Frohn. The welcoming remarks were followed by a movie screening that introduced 2018/19 Mercator-IPC Senior Fellows Atila Eralp and Özcan Mutlu and the 2018/19 Mercator-IPC Fellows Annegret Warth, Cem İskender Aydın, Ender Peker, Jannes Tessmann, Joanna Krzeminska, Maissam Nimer, and Yohanan Benhaim.

The joint panel discussion “EU-Turkey Relations in Times of Global and Regional Turmoil,” convened by the Initiative, the Centre for Turkey and European Studies (CETEUS), University of Cologne, and Stiftung Mercator, took place on April 19, 2018 at the University of Cologne.

Under the scope of the project “Revitalizing Turkey-EU/Germany Relations” funded by the IPC-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative, the second meeting of the Track II diplomacy working group took place in Mercator Centre Berlin on January 12, 2018, with the participation of Director Fuat Keyman, Senior Scholar and Research and Academic Affairs Coordinator Senem Aydın-Düzgit, 2017/18 Mercator-IPC Senior Fellow Atila Eralp, and Sabancı University Faculty Member Meltem Müftüler-Baç.

The Initiative, in cooperation with Blickwechsel, convened a panel discussion on “Revitalizing Turkey-EU Relations in Regional and Global Turmoil” on January 11, 2018 at Humboldt University, Berlin, with the participation of Director Fuat Keyman, 2017/18 Mercator-IPC Senior Fellow Atila Eralp, Senior Scholar and Research and Academic Affairs Coordinator Senem Aydın-Düzgit, and Head of the ECFR Berlin Office Josef Janning as panelists and Humboldt University Faculty Member Ertuğ Tombuş as chair.

2017/18 Mercator-IPC Senior Fellow Atila Eralp convened a panel on “Turkey and the EU in the emerging new Middle East” in cooperation with Sciences Po on December 14, 2017 at Science Po, Paris. The panel, which was chaired by Riva Kastoryano, Senior Research Fellow at CNRS, hosted Fuat Keyman, Director of Istanbul Policy Center and Professor of International Relations at Sabancı University, and Galip Dalay, Research Director at Al Sharq Forum and Senior Associate Fellow on Turkey and Kurdish Affairs at Al Jazeera Center for Studies, as panelists.

The Initiative organized a roundtable discussion in cooperation with CEPS Brussels on “Turkey-EU: The Customs Union Agreement” where a draft report on the issue was discussed with academics, think tank representatives, and policy makers on November 24, 2017 in Brussels.

The Welcoming of the 2017/18 Mercator-IPC Fellows was held on October 16.  The event marked the 6th cycle of the Mercator-IPC Fellowship Program, which is coordinated by the Istanbul Policy Center, Sabancı University and Stiftung Mercator Initiative.

The event began with welcoming remarks by IPC Director Fuat Keyman, followed by remarks from the Chairman of the Advisory Board at Stiftung Mercator, Rüdiger Frohn. The welcoming remarks were followed by a movie screening  which introduced the 2017/18 Mercator-IPC Fellows Gabriele Cloeters, Souad Osseiran, Simon Waldman, Banu Karaca, Pınar Ertör Akyazı and Barış Karapınar.

The Initiative organized a working group meeting that brought together academics, professionals, and public servants from Turkey, Germany, and European institutions to feed in to the debate on the future of Turkey-EU-Germany Relations and work collectively on revitalizing relations on July 4, 2017 at IPC.

IPC-Sabancı University-Stiftung Mercator Initiative and Transatlantic Academy co-organized a full-day event titled "IPC Observatory: The Future of the Liberal Order" on May 23, 2013 at the Seed, Istanbul.
