Just Energy Transition Pathways in the Western Balkans and Türkiye
This Mercator-IPC Fellowship project explores how Türkiye and the Western Balkans can strengthen regional cooperation around a just, secure, and socially balanced energy transition. Situated in the context of COP31 in Türkiye, the project examines the challenges facing Western Balkan economies as they navigate decarbonization, energy security, coal dependency, European climate policies, and the social and economic implications of the energy transition. It also considers the strategic relevance of these developments for Türkiye as a regional actor connecting the Western Balkans and Europe.
