The International School of Foreign Policy, Defense, and Security is designed for graduate students and researchers seeking to acquire advanced knowledge in the field of international security. The primary objective of the courses, which will be taught by experts in their fields who are internationally recognized, is to provide a comprehensive and holistic examination of all major theoretical approaches—both mainstream and critical—and current concepts within the field of international security studies. Furthermore, the course will examine the opportunities these approaches offer for understanding current security issues; it will also discuss which traditional (military-based) and non-traditional security challenges and threat narratives are coming to the fore as the global, European, and Middle Eastern security architectures are being reshaped.
International Foreign Policy, Defense, and Security School
The International School on Foreign Policy, Defense and Security, organized by IPC with the support of the TÜBİTAK 2237–A Scientific Training Activities Support Program and led by Prof. Dr. Alper Kaliber, took place on September 21–26 at IPC Karaköy. The six-day program addressed key theoretical approaches to security studies alongside contemporary issues including terrorism, cybersecurity, defense, the Middle East, migration and border management, the European Union, and NATO. The program concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants who successfully completed the school.

Alper Kaliber
Alper Kaliber joined the Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) as a Senior Scholar in April 2025. Before joining the IPC, he worked as a visiting scholar at the Federal University of ABC in São Paulo, Brazil.
