LOVPRELAE: Local Value Creation and Participation in Renewable Energy: Regulatory Frameworks in Latin America and Europe

Supported by the European Commission and TÜBİTAK, the LOVPRELAE project runs from July 1, 2026, to January 1, 2028. Covering Germany, Türkiye, Brazil, and Peru, the project investigates how different regulatory and institutional contexts shape citizen participation in renewable energy projects.

Bringing together political science, ecological economics, energy systems analysis, sustainable engineering, and local stakeholder knowledge, the project examines two dimensions of participation: involvement in planning and decision-making, and financial participation through benefit-sharing and community energy models. It aims to develop scientific publications and policy recommendations by comparing findings from policy and regulatory analyses and fieldwork across the four countries.

Sabancı University Istanbul Policy Center leads the fourth work package, which focuses on cross-country comparative analysis and scientific outputs. This involves synthesizing findings from the case studies and preparing joint scientific publications and policy briefs.
