Türkiye’nin Karbonsuzlaşma Yol Haritası: 2050’de Net Sıfır

Decarbonization Pathway for Turkey: Net Zero in 2050

Executive Summary

The findings of the report titled “Decarbonization Pathway for Turkey: Net Zero in 2050” were shared by Climate Change Studies Coordinator Ümit Şahin on November 4, 2021 at COP26, Glasgow.

Conclusion

According to the conclusions of this study—the first study published on the content of Turkey’s Nationally Determined Contributions, which are expected to be updated regarding how Turkey can reach its current net-zero target—it is possible to decarbonize the Turkish economy to a large extent in 30 years and reach close to net zero in the early 2050s through the elimination of fossil fuels and the transition to renewable energy through energy efficiency and electrification in related sectors. The assumptions used in this report maintain the basic features of the existing economic structure and present the results of policy changes based primarily on investments in energy transition and zero-carbon technologies.
