IPC-Turkey Social Psychological Well-Being Report—2025

The “IPC-Turkey Social Psychological Well-Being Report—2025 (İPM-Türkiye Toplumsal Psikolojik Esenlik Raporu-2025),” prepared by IPC Senior Scholars Nebi Sümer and Zafer Yenal, was published.

Yönetici Özeti

This report is the first comprehensive evaluation of Türkiye’s societal psychological well-being using international and national data sources. The report has been prepared by the Societal Psychology Studies within the Sustainability research cluster at Istanbul Policy Center (IPC) and will be published annually.

WHY REPORT ON PSYCHOLOGICAL WELL-BEING?

Over the past two decades, international organizations have acknowledged that economic growth alone does not fully represent societal welfare. Psychological wellbeing is now recognized as a key indicator of national development as reflected into in the OECD’s Better Life Index (2011), the United Nations’ World Happiness Report (since 2012), and the UN Sustainable Development Goals are concrete reflections of this approach. Although Türkiye has experienced significant demographic, economic, and political transformations in the last 50 years, psychological well-being has not been systematically monitored and evaluated.
